Character Ed has recently organized a food drive for families in need. This caring committee collected many non-perishable items ranging from canned foods to boxed meals. The food drive was organized to support people who are in need of food for the holidays. Baskets were made for the people and donated to Northwest Connections for the holidays. Then Northwest Connections will distribute the holiday meals to community members. We have collected a total of 447 canned food items and boxed meals during our recent food drive. We have also collected $172 that will go towards purchasing turkeys and other items to fill our holiday baskets. Our leaders for the food drive were Mr. Churchill’s class, with 246 points; Mr. Eckstrom’s class, with 152 points; and Mr. Paine’s class, with 142 points. I talked to Ms. VonArb about the food drive and she stated, “We are incredibly grateful for the people who have donated food. It was a remarkable success.”
Our next activity will be making Easter cards for the nursing home. We use colorful paper, markers, stickers, and other craft supplies to make them unique and special. These cards bring joy to individuals who may not have a family to wish them a joyful Easter holiday.
