With the 2025 season now over, the Hayward boys soccer team has a lot to reflect on. The Canes finished with a record of 4-7-4 over their 15 game season; a slight step down from the previous year. Despite the record, the team had a lot of small successes that showed a lot of growth throughout the season.
The team is coached by Head Coach Jeremy Hill and assistant Tony Loucks. On the field, the Canes are led by senior captains Troy Isham, Nate Lindsay, and Charles Egger.
The Canes faced many challenges this year, especially with injuries. Before the season even started, the team lost senior Teddy Winter and sophomore Luke Halberg to knee injuries, and later lost junior Micah Teran to a fractured foot. These are just the season-ending ones- many smaller injuries impacted the roster on a game-to-game basis.
One bright spot this season was the Canes’ defense, anchored by all-state nominee goalkeeper Charles Egger. According to the compiled statistics on the season, he had an 85% save percentage. That’s pretty amazing! On the offensive side of the ball, the leading scorers on the season were sophomore Nolan Kane with seven goals and senior Charles Egger (yes, as a goalie) with five.
The Canes finished their season in tournament play against Rice Lake on October 23rd. This 7:00 p.m. game was a close one, ending with a final score of 5-3, sending Hayward home for the season. It was hard-fought, and the Canes should be proud of how well they played! We hope to see you at some games next year!
