Many high school students enjoy the freedom to be able to have open campus lunch. Although you may be able to go wherever you want to during this time, it is important to keep in mind that the allotted lunch time is only 30 minutes. There are many good places in Hayward to eat, but the majority of them will take longer than that. There are still many quick places to pick from for a short lunch period. Here are the top choices for eating lunch out in 2025:
- Kwik Trip – Although it may be simple, there are a lot of options that will please most people. You can opt for hot foods, or get something packaged, like chips, sweets, and drinks. Most foods there are not going to break the bank.
- Miller’s Market – More commonly known as Miller’s, this is the typical high schooler’s lunch in Hayward. They have hot and cold sandwiches that are freshly made. They also have salads, and other products that make good sides to go with a sandwich. You can get a sandwich, drink, chips, and dessert for about $10, which is a good deal for a broke high school student.
- Main Street Tacos – Here you will find even more options than the last two locations. Of course they only have Mexican food, but they have some of the best Mexican food in town. You could go for the classic tacos, or spice it up and try something new like the steak fries. Can sometimes be more expensive, but well worth the money.
- McDonald’s – Once again a common “fast” food place, but will make sure that you are back to school on time with a full stomach. You could get your food from the drive thru or walk inside. You can even order ahead of time and pick up your food right when you get there while getting rewards on the app. Fairly inexpensive foods overall.
- Panda House – A tiny hidden shop in Hayward that serves Chinese food. They have fried rice, soups, veggies, lo mein, chop suey, and much more. They usually have your food ready to pick up in about ten minutes, which would still give you 20 minutes to enjoy the delicious foods that they offer. Fair priced food depending on what you order.
