The Hayward High School choir had the honor of being selected as feature performers for the 2025 Clearwater Honor Choir Festival hosted by UW-Eau Claire. It was held at the beautiful Pablo Center at the Confluence in downtown Eau Claire on Saturday, October 18th. This was a very special honor, as they were selected due to their outstanding talent and passion as musicians. According to Mr. DiSera, “It’s a really good opportunity for our program. We were featured at a festival with a lot of other schools we don’t normally see at events during the school year, and many of them are bigger schools than us.” Mr. DiSera thought it was really interesting to see our similarities and differences to other schools from around the state.
The students in both Treble Choir and Mixed Choir worked very hard to prepare for this exciting opportunity. The choirs combined to perform four pieces at this festival: Non Nobis, Requiem, Refuge, and Peze Kafe. These pieces are challenging, but so worth the effort, as they are all so different but equally beautiful in their own way. A student in choir says, “These pieces have had their ups and downs but the whole choir works everyday to better their skills and perform to the best of their ability.”
Another exciting event coming up is our annual Veteran’s Day concert. This year’s concert is on Monday, November 10th at 7:00 p.m. and takes place at the ADS Auditorium at HHS. The Mixed Choir, Treble Choir, and Banner Choir will all perform that evening. In addition to hearing our choirs, the Hayward Piecemakers Guild will present their beautiful Quilts of Valor, and the Hayward Veterans Association and American Legion Post 218 will honor their Veteran of the Year. This is a great opportunity to show our local veterans our appreciation for their service. We hope that you can come!
