With the new year underway, HHS has a few new students. Kaleb Carlson is a freshman who attended Northern Lights Christian Academy before Hayward High. Thus far, his favorite class has been Intro to Tech Ed with Mr. Paine. Despite the contrast in schooling, “The friends, the people, the community” has made him feel right at home.
Along with new people to Hayward from the class of 2029, the class of 2028 has a new student with Finnian Sinclair moving from Plymouth, WI. Finn has moved to Hayward with his family’s new ownership of the Northwoods Motel. Along with the introduction of the new town from Ransom Housel, he is looking forward to trying out the trap shooting team.
Onto the class of 2027, Blaise Kidder has moved from Solon Springs WI. Blaise has enjoyed the broad selection of courses that HHS has to offer. As far as extra-curricular activities, Kidder runs cross-country and plays baseball. Blaise has stated that this year is a “down year” for his running, despite this he has been a top-five Hayward runner at all meets thus far. For the near future, baseball has caught his eye with new teammates creating a warm atmosphere in Hayward. Blaise would like to note his Environmental Engineering class as a highlight of HHS thus far. He says that Mr. Eckstrom as a fabulous teacher.
Outside of new and amazing students from the states, we have a foreign exchange student from Cazeres, France. Marceau Herzog is a junior who will stay the whole year on a program with AY USA. So far his favorite class is Mrs. Sorensen’s digital photography. Along with his involvement as a scholar, Marceau has been enjoying his time on the soccer team. While the change in school has been a positive for Marceau, he has been irritated with not being able to drive.
With Finnian’s moving to Hayward there is also a new senior in his sister, Zada Sinclair. Zada has found the environment as incredibly welcoming within her choir and cross country involvement. As for the rest of the year, Zada is looking forward to meeting new people from the northwoods and acquiring her high school diploma.
So if you see any of these new students out and about, please give them a warm welcome!
