For years during the normal lunch periods, HHS has only ever let juniors and seniors have the ability to leave school for lunch. I believe sophomores in good standing should be able to leave school for lunch if they have a valid driver’s license or if they have a ride from another upperclassmen. Numerous juniors and seniors have said that they wouldn’t mind taking their sophomore friends or family to places other than the school lunchroom during that time.
One reason I think this is that most sophomores have already gotten their own jobs and are earning their own money outside of school. A good chunk of the grade has also earned their drivers licenses and purchased cars. This should allow them to leave school during lunch hours and go somewhere else. They should also be able to take one or two of their friends since others might not have a ride. Other sophomores have also stated that this would be a great change to school rules as they would also be able to finally go outside after being stuck in the school for hours since there is no longer any recess/outdoor time in high school.
