Red Ribbon Week is approaching once again at Hayward High School and the Character Ed. club has been preparing to make this week entirely focused on spreading drug awareness. Although creating a list of witty and fun dress up days like “Give drugs the boot,” Red Ribbon Week holds a much larger meaning this year. Cassidy Metropulos is in all of our minds in the lead up to this week. As one of our own Hurricanes that stood in our student section and in our classrooms, Cassidy will inspire us this week to stand up to drugs and spread awareness.
The drug-free mission of HHS begins in kindergarten with our pledge to be drug free. Red Ribbon Week encourages students to honor that pledge by reminding them of the effects of drug use. We will continue to celebrate being drug free and honor those who have lost their lives to drugs, by dressing American on Monday, camo on Tuesday, western onWednesday, Jersey day on Thursday, and hats on Friday. To be anti-drug is to be pro living.
