Another amazing homecoming for the books! After a slightly short week of dress-up days and powderpuff shenanigans, we ended Thursday with a pep rally to get everyone excited for the homecoming game. The rally included games such as races and shouting wars between grades. All of which the seniors won. Special recognition was given to the wonderful homecoming court pictured above. Wyatt Lobitz and Yannah Anglin were crowned the 2024 king and queen. Before anyone was able to go home, however; students across all the Hayward schools trekked to the intermediate school for a parade to end the week. With floats like, “Whack a Beaver,” made by the juniors and, “Bust the Beavers,” created by the freshmen, it was a parade you wouldn’t want to miss. Although there was an incredible amount of encouragement from all the student body, our HHS football players were not able to pull out a win on Thursday night. With a final score of 13-16, it was a rough loss.
Luckily, you could always drown out the sorrow with your favorite song while preparing for the homecoming dance! On Friday night, everyone got in their prettiest dresses, handsomest suits, and more than likely had to watch a video on how to tie their tie. With amazing lights, music, and especially dance moves, it was a wonderful night to end a great week. Before you start fawning over the amazing dance outfits, we should take a closer look at our impressive week day outfits. Don’t even worry about dressing up for Monday, just hop out of bed, pull on your backpack and head out the door for PJ day! In honor of breast cancer awareness month, on Tuesday everyone wore their pinkest shirt and made sure to cheer as loud as they could at the “Play for Pink” volleyball game. Everyone raided their parents’ closet for their BBQ dad/soccer mom look on Wednesday. If you were lucky, you managed to snag a pair of tongs from your kitchen or a baby doll from Mrs. Alcoe’s room. To finish it off, on Thursday everyone wore black and gold to show their school spirit!
