This year we have many new staff, and they are bringing new classes and expertise to our high school! Welcome to HHS!
Mrs. Sorensen: She was more than happy to join the art department at Hayward High School! In her high school years, she enjoyed art classes, but one of her art teachers was not fun and made the classes boring. She then realized that she wanted to become an art teacher to create a fun environment to teach kids about art.
Ms. St. Germaine: Before she came to the HHS, she served in the U.S. Navy for five years and then was the academic dean at LCO. She teaches our Ojibwe language and cultural classes. She is a great addition to our school, especially because last year there were no Ojibwe classes available for students.
Mrs. Skweres: She was a transfer from the middle school who decided she wanted to come and help out at the high school. She has been working for our district for many years in several different positions, including being in the kitchen as a cook, in the library, in the tech department, and finally transferred to the special education department at the high school.
Mr. Turnbull: He came here from our middle school, where he was a social studies teacher for many years. Mr. Turnbull is now an administrator, specifically the athletics/activities director as well as an assistant principal. He pursued this career change because he loves sports and would like to be involved with all of our students and their respective activities. His favorite sports are hockey and golf.
