While the upcoming basketball season is just around the corner, there is some new and exciting information that basketball players and students should know.
New Varsity Coach
First off, we are very happy to introduce our new Varsity coach, Curtis DeCora. Coach DeCora knows the game of basketball better than anyone, and has already been one of the best things that has happened to our program. We are also waiting to find out who will coach for the JV and C-Team.
Summer and Fall League
This past summer, Coach DeCora introduced our basketball team to Summer League, which was new to Hayward High School students. Summer League consisted of four games a week in Superior, playing against teams throughout the months of June and July.
Coach DeCora also introduced us to Fall League, which is going on at the moment and costs $50 to register. Fall League takes place every Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00. Overall, these programs are preparing us for the upcoming season and will help us greatly.
New Players
We are excited to announce two new players and students this year; Kingston Frey and Caleb Springer. These two players are very talented and love the game, and should be a great addition to our program. We look forward to watching them play and grow this upcoming season. We also hope that any other students with a passion for basketball come and join our team!
The Open Gym Schedule
Open gym is a great way to get lots of shots up and have some fun playing with and against other teammates. These take place every Monday and Wednesday, at varying schools, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
New Weight Room and Gym
Also, with the new addition to the school, we have a new gym and weight room that is open to the public and students. We should definitely be taking this to our advantage to improve our endurance and strength. With the new weight room and gym available to us, it would not only be good for basketball players to to involve themselves in this, but also athletes in different sports.
