Deciding what to do after high school is sometimes a difficult subject for some, but for others, not so much. A lot of students here at Hayward High School have somewhat of an idea of what their plans are after they graduate.
Some plan on attending a four-year university. For example, Natalie Grubs is planning to attend UW-LaCrosse in the fall of 2025 to study occupational therapy. Hailey Waystedt is also planning to attend a four- year university to study exercise and sports science, and physical therapy.
Others plan to attend a two-year college, for example, Karlee Gay. Karlee is planning to attend college at Western Tech in LaCrosse to study business. She is also on the way to be a certified private pilot. Another senior, Marshall Cooper, is planning to attend Northwood Technical College for construction.
While most students plan to remain in the United States next year, Arlo Morse is planning to go to college in Berlin, Germany for three years to study business and marketing.
Instead of going to a four-year university we also have students here at Hayward High School going into trades. For example, Brock Chucka is planning to do an apprenticeship in order to be a residential electrician. Guy Swenson will attend a technical college in Green Bay for nine months to begin his journey as a lineman.
For a handful of seniors, becoming a member of the U.S. Armed Forces is their goal. Memphis Demain is planning on joining the Navy, just like his older brother. James Lawrence has already enlisted in the Army and is excited for the possibilities it presents. Beyonce Flores hopes to be a member of the National Guard while she attends college.
There are so many routes a student can take after high school. Sometimes students are not entirely sure what exactly they want to do after high school. Some students take a gap year to find what it is they want to do with their life. Others think about joining the workforce right after high school. Regardless of what path each student decides to take after high school, I hope that they are excited for what comes next.
