Do you ever stop and think how our music department is able to afford new music, instruments, field trips, scholarships, and more? While there are many who contribute to their success, the Hayward Music Boosters are detrimental to that success! How are they able to contribute so much, you might ask? Well, the Hayward Music Boosters rely on help from our community to make things happen!
So what kinds of these are these donations doing right now? Well, donations help Mr. DiSera and Mr. Kringle to buy music for the choir and band programs. Donations are also used for scholarships, uniforms, equipment, travel expenses and fixing broken or damaged instruments. I asked Ben Hanson, a member of the Music Boosters, what their current projects/goals are. He said that they are, “…currently working on finding and collecting prizes for the spring raffle to raise money to help buy a new piano for Mr. DiSera.” He also mentioned their goal of raising money to be able to award student scholarships.
The Hayward Music Boosters hold a meeting the first Tuesday of each month, at 5:30 p.m. in the Hayward Middle School choir room. During these meetings, attendees talk about upcoming events, fundraising efforts, and anything else important to keep our schools music programs going strong! If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please attend the next meeting or speak with a music director!
