This movie is about a guy named Denji. In a world where people’s fears are personified into devils, Denji is hired as a devil hunter. Denji is trying to find a girl who wants his love. He finds a girl who seems to want that. Her name is Reze, but it’s complicated, as she was actually hired to capture Denji. Denji doesn’t know this and she says that she likes him. However, Denji has a problem: he likes another girl at the same time as he likes Reze. Reze realizes this and reveals that she is the bomb devil. Denji and her fight, which leads to Denji tying himself to her and both sinking into the ocean. They get saved by the shark devil. When they wake up, Denji still has feelings for her, and tells her that he’ll wait at the cafe for her. She says that she won’t go, calling him naive and saying she lied about everything she said to him and is leaving the city. Before she goes, she sees flowers that remind her of Denji and she realizes that she actually does care for him. She heads to the cafe, but the other person that Denji likes stops her. Her name is Makima, and she’s his boss. We learn that she manipulates Denji into liking her so that she can keep control over him and make him do stuff for her. Reze would get in the way of that if she gets to Denji and confesses her feelings for him, so Makima kills her.
