On December 26th, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the HHS choir will leave the high school and head to Europe. The high school will visit Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague. The choir will experience amazing food, culture, and sights. Mr. DiSera, the trip director, is ecstatic for this trip because, “It will be the first time a lot of people will leave the country and be able to see other cultures.”
The trip will start on December 27th when the choir arrives in Salzburg. The choir will visit sights such as the Old Town Square, Residenz Castle, Glockenspiel, and Mozart’s birthplace. On the 28th, the choir will visit Hohensalzburg Fortress, Nonnberg Abbey, and the Salzburg Cathedral. The choir will perform in the Church of Saint Andrae.
On Sunday the 29th, the choir will travel from Salzburg to Vienna with a stop in Melk. The choir will perform at St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The choir will then visit sites such as Hother Markt, Altes Rathaus, St. Peter’s Cathedral, and Wiener Staatsoper. On the 30th, students will visit some more places such as Haus der Musik and Stadtpark. They will make their way to St. Charles’ Church where they will watch an orchestra performance. Freshman Jayleiya St. Germaine said she is very excited to go to these places in Austria so she can, “…see all of the old buildings.”
On Tuesday the 31st, the choir will travel from Vienna to Prague with a stop in Telc. Their tour will visit places such as Mala Strana and the Jewish Quarter before performing at the Christmas markets. On New Year’s Day, they will visit places such as the Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge, John Lennon Peace Wall, the Prague Castle, and the Antonin Dvorak Museum.
The choir will arrive back in Hayward on January 2nd at 2:45 a.m. Everyone can’t wait for this amazing trip, sure to be filled with memories to last a lifetime.
