The HHS Forensics (Speech) season has officially started! After a couple months of practices, the team had their sub-district meet at Washburn High School on Wednesday, February 12th. This meet gave students the opportunity to perform their piece three times, each time with a different judge, and receive feedback on their performance. If they scored high enough, they will advance to the district meet (and the goal after that is to qualify for state). We’re happy to announce that after three rounds of stellar performances, all fourteen students that attended the meet advanced!
This year, we have many returning members but also a few new ones! Our seniors are Yannah Anglin, Lydia Breezee, Alex Burgan, Julia Carley, Esmeralda Carrasco, Remy Deyo, Sakina Mammadli, and Sona Ovezmyradova. Junior members are Phoenix Rickards, Piper Riehm, Alayna Wolfe, and Egan Young. Our sophomore, Marco Munive, is new to the team. We also have two freshmen, Tristan Rhea and Levi VanDeslunt, joining us for the first time. The coaches are Ms. Pritchett and Mrs. Duffy.
If you’d like to learn more about Forensics, come watch some of your peers at the district meet on Wednesday, March 19th at HHS! It’s a fun way to spend the evening, and maybe you’ll even be inspired to join next year. It’s also kind of a big deal as students need to bring their “A-game” so they can qualify for the state meet at UW-Madison in April. Hope to see you there!
