Downhill skiing is a great way to get some exercise and let out some energy in the typically lazy days of winter. This winter break, if you have any free time, which many of us do, I recommend trying it out! And if you’ve never skied before, or plan on inviting somebody who hasn’t, worry not, there are plenty of beginner-friendly ski hills right here in Wisconsin.
Granite Peak-Wausau
This hill is very beginner-friendly but can also provide a bit of a fun challenge for any experienced skier who would like to try the bigger trails. This hill has 700 feet of vertical height and over 50 trails of varying difficulty for you to enjoy! There are beginner runs as well as intermediate runs. They also have a ski school that offers lessons for anybody including children, and women-only adult groups.
Sunburst- Kewaskum
This hill is very enjoyable for everybody! Even if skiing isn’t your thing, or if you’d rather have some laid-back fun with the family. Sunburst has three beginner runs in addition to the intermediate runs, and also a hill just for snow tubing! So if skiing doesn’t sound like a manageable outing with a group, or you have any kids, you’re bound to have lots of fun tubing.
Christie Mountain- Bruce
Christie Mountain has a local reputation for being a great place to go tubing, and skiing, with competitive pricing and private lessons! These hills have 11 beginner friendly runs for you to learn on and enjoy. If you want to take along any kids under 8, their passes are free when bought with an adult pass!
Cascade Mountain- Portage
This ski resort offers great skiing, snowboarding and tubing, with well maintained slopes, good prices, and programs and lessons for beginners. This hill has 48 trails and 11 lifts, and a beautiful view from the top. There are many beginner friendly hills as well as tubing for non-skiers.
All of these places include equipment rental, deals, and tubing for you to enjoy! So what are you waiting for?!
